How to Train Parrots

Parrots are very funny and special creatures. They have the abilities that are not possessed by most of the other species of birds.  They have very unique ability of reproducing words like human being.  When you hear of the phrase how to train parrots to talk, do not expect a scenario in which you can engage on one on one talk with the bird. No, it entails the training that makes the bird capable of responding to some short sentences.

The parrot has a very small brain and you cannot expect it to converse like a human being. You just train it to mimic some few words and to respond to some simple questions.  Doesn’t it sound funny talking to a parrot? This is all what the training is about. 

Provided you do not overload them with complicated vocabulary, parrots can imitate almost everything that you say.  You have to keep the conversation very simple and clear if you want to train a parrot.

 If you want to have easy time training your parrot you should ensure that it is from these species.  It is also very good that you select that parrot which has the right temperament. Do not choose parrots that are hot tempered and which are not cooperative in the training. 

These days, it is not very hard to train a parrot thanks to the parrot training CDs that are readily available over the internet.  These CDs on how to train parrots are very easy to use. You just need to place them near the parrot cage and then play them. They contain very simple words like ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’.

With time, the parrot will try to mimic the words that he or she hears.  Some parrots may however not be comfortable with the noise and sounds that are produced by the CDs. Most people are of the view that you should practice one on one training without the use of CD or any other device.

You should begin the training when the parrot is very young.  The parrot will become known to you if you start training it from its very young age. If you start training at its mature age, it will have difficulties learning.

The basic rule on how to train parrots is one: begin from the simple to the hardest words.   You should also be very patient in the training. Do not expect the parrot to learn very quickly as though it is a human being.

Depending on the species and temperament of the parrot, it may take several months or several years before the bird can respond to or mimic some words correctly.

It is good to bond this relationship. This is not something that will need time to accomplish. When the real process of learning starts it is good to start with simple words before advancing to hard ones. This is a good way of introducing the bird to the process of talking. It is good to have daily training lessons and learn to reward the parrot every time it repeats the words correctly. This is a good way of motivating it.
